Female scuba diving looking up into a hole

One of the great things about living in Puerto Morelos is the renowned Ruta de los Cenotes. This highway connects Puerto Morelos with a small town called Leona Vicario and is home to more than 60 cenotes. Two of my favorite to dive are called Maravilla (The Wonder) and Zapote (aka Hells Bells). At the end of December 2025, my dive buddy Linda Elliott visited me from Canada and we dove both these cenotes.

Linda took such great photos where it shows the magic of the light shining down from the entrance of the cenote Maravilla. Below are two of my favorites.

This next one got Linda the photo of the month from our women's scuba club. Normally the winning photo is a fish or ocean creature of some kind. This one was so unique that it was the winner!

Here's video of our diving experience. We got to about 95 feet and there was a sulphur cloud ☁️ in the cenote. At the end of the video, notice Linda swimming up towards the ray of light ✨ from the opening of the cenote. So beautiful 😲 😍 🤩!!!

This is one of my favorite cenotes to dive and I'll definitely be back!
